2019 Dion Vineyard Willamette Valley Tempranillo I & II

We are always excited to work with warmer climate varietals here in the Willamette Valley. This Tempranillo is no exception. Just by tasting the grapes off the vine in the 2019 vintage, we knew it would be a stretch to make a red wine without resorting to manipulation. However, we believed this anomalous varietal would produce a spectacular white wine without any such additions. We were not wrong.

The Tempranillo I is an intensely aromatic and full wine with a strong acidic backbone that holds up an off-dry body. We also cold macerated some of it for four days prior to fermentation. This created a lush, rich, and almost creamy Rosé.

What will we do with it next year? That all depends on what the growing season throws at us.

Like all our other wines, it was wild yeast fermented in neutral oak. Other than a very small amount of sulfite, absolutely nothing was added to this wine. Unfiltered and unfined.
